The primary objective of the Film & Television courses is to train and educate students to industry-related standards, that will enable them to be employed professionally in their chosen field.
The emphasis of the course is on the study, practice, and mastery of practical skills informed by theoretical studies, and to bring an individually unique and original quality to the execution of the student's work.

During the first year the student is introduced to the seven disciplines that constitute the Film and Television course :
Through the in-depth lectures, practical workshops, and numerous productions that the course offers, the student will gain sufficient insight into and experience of the various disciplines to be able to make an informed choice when selecting his/her individual area of specialisation for the subsequent years of study.
During the first term the emphasis is placed on AUDIO VISUAL NARRATIVE - the dynamic communication potential of the cinema.
At the end of this term the student is involved in the production of a series of silent films, which demonstrate his/her grasp of this fundamental aspect of film making.
The second term is devoted to CINEMATIC CONSTRUCTION -the essential building bricks that are required to form a seamless, cohesive, and coherent cinematic narrative.
At the end of the term the student demonstrates his/her grasp of Audio Visual Narrative and Cinematic construction by working on a series of short films, with each student working and being evaluated in each of the seven disciplines.
The third term focuses on providing the student with thorough exposure to the demands of each of the SEVEN DISCIPLINES, with purpose-designed exercises and special presentations from top names in the industry coming in as guest lecturers to share their insight and experience with the students. Throughout this term the students also gains valuable insight into the seven disciplines by assisting on third and fourth year productions.
During the fourth term the focus is on basic OPERATING COMPETENCY of equipment relating to the seven disciplines, with the student gaining proficiency in operating the :
At the end of this final term the students make a film which forms the basis of their end of year evaluation and determines in which discipline the student may specialise during the second and third year.
This is the year in which the student begins to specialise in one or more of the seven disciplines.
Throughout the rear the focus is on attaining professional production standards with rigorous emphasis placed on the workings of each disciplin.
the final result of this process is a series of short films produced by the students in accordance with industry-accepted production standards.
the first term is one of the most demanding periods of the course, in which the student focuses on what it takes to shoot a SINGLE SCENE according to professional standards.
This is achieved through a number of theoretical and practical exercises and workshops that examine scenes, shot for shot, from existing top quality films, with in-depth study of the function of each discipline within the scene.
The term culminates in the production of a series of scenes by each of the students, which demonstrates their ability to achieve the set production standards within their chosen disciplines.
The second term extends the work begun in the first. Now the student learns what it takes to shoot a series of THREE SCENES according to professional standards. the focus is not only on the production values of the seven disciplines in each shot, but also on elements such as :
the third term is one of consolidating. Through various exercises and workshops and the production of a sequence of FIVE SCENES, the student hones all the theoretical knowledge and the practical skills gathered in the first and second term.
The five scenes should contain all the production values and cinematic nuances learnt so far. In addition, the scenes should demonstrate a sense of narrative rhythm and elegant expression.
The student must complete the five scenes in accordance with the set production standards and values in each of their respective disciplines. Only then will the students be entitled to proceed with preparations for their final end of year short film.
The final term of second year is dedicated to the pre-production, production and post-production of a series of SHORT FILMS modelled on the production template forged in the preceding terms.

In the third year the student focuses on identifying and expressing his/her own unique creativity, utilising all the skills and knowledge acquired in the first and second year of the course to produce a show-reel that meets the highest standards.
The shoe-reel is the basis for graduation form the course and will become the student's primary tool for gaining employment in the industry.
In the first term the students produce a series of EXPERIMENTAL FILMS.
The films are carefully structured and are aimed at helping the student discover their own unique creative voice. It is the unique voice that will drive the creative focus of each student's future work.
During the second term the students produce their first SHORT FILM for inclusion on the show-reel.
The films focus around character development within a structured dramatic narrative that expresses the student's creative voice identified in the first term.
Throughout the third term the students focus on the four primary commercial genres :
the term is dedicated to careful examination of the cinematic workings of each of these genres and how each student can bring his/her own creative talents to bear upon them. The students are required to make any two of the above four genres for inclusion on their show-reels.
The three year course culminates in the production of a 20-30 minute DRAMATIC FILM.
The students focus on this production throughout the fourth term, with emphasis on expressing their unique creative talents. these films provide the finishing touch to the shoe-reels and must meet the highest professional standards.
The best of these will be screened at a gala event for the local film industry, broadcast on national television, and entered into various international film festivals.

This is a bridging year between study and working as a professional in the industry.
Admission to the one year advanced diploma course is by application and is at the sole discretion of the board of directors. Only students who have demonstrated exceptional talent, ability, and professionalism in the three year diploma course will be admitted to the advanced diploma course.
