The pic above is of a hovercraft we built over a period of about
2 years ! Pete & Brian and Mark Macey all put plenty time into building this
craft which is powered by a 90Hp Yamaha Outboard motor that has been modified
to run on its side. Cooling is done by a radiator from an Audi and a water pump from a Ford.
The fan is imported from the UK and pulleys are from Holland.

It would appear that there is no home page for this
organisation, so here is a bit about them. Run by Francois Malan of
Somerset West in the Western Cape, the club consists of about 10
members who operate homebuilt examples in remote areas due to the rather
excessive noise generated by the fans. Meets are arranged from time
to time over weekends and are usually rather eventfull due to the
unreliability of the craft. Powered by anything from a lawnmower engine
to a golf GTi engine to a Rotax microlight engine, they are surprisingly
simple to construct. Piloting does not take long to get the hang of,
although over-enthusiam can lead to spectacular wipeouts in lots
