TRANSPORT

Transport is provided in the form of a Toyota Venture, a Volkswagen Microbus or a Nissan Double Cab 4x4, depending on the number of people participating.On safaris, extensive camping equipment, cooking equipment, water containers, first aid kit, reference books on mammals and birds of the area, and a set of spare parts is carried in the vehicles. The height of the vehicles ensures excellent observation and photography of wildlife.

TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT

The one day eco and city tours, weekend ecotours and specialised tours can be enjoyed all year round, as well as the South African One World trips and the Zimbabwe and Mozambique safaris.The Wild African Safaris to Botswana and Namibia are limited to May to October (winter months).

INSURANCE

Travel insurance is compulsory and you should arrange such in your country of origin. You should be covered in the event of cancellation or curtailment, death, any medical or rescue expenses, as well as for any loss of baggage, money or personal items.

MEALS


On safaris gourmet Bush Cuisine (menu available on request), wine (wine list available on request) and/or malt, mineral water, cool drinks and/or fruit juices, tea and/or coffee are included. Special dietary requirements (e.g. vegetarian) are catered for on request. The guides prepare meals with help from the group. On local tours, local cuisine is offered at reputable establishments (see itineraries for details).

SPENDING MONEY

Each trip will require different amounts of pocket money depending on the length of the journey, the individual's needs and the specific conditions of each tour. Money is needed for tips, curios, alcohol (limited wine and malt is available on safaris), specified restaurant meals, visas, airport taxes and transfer, and additional excursions not included in the tour price (and indicated as optional extra).

ACCOMMODATION

Teurlings Ecotourism uses a mixture of accommodation: motels, hotels and lodges, rondawels, resorts, bed and breakfast lodges, and camping. For camping we use dome and/or rooftop tents for 2 to 3 people, which take about 5 minutes to erect. They have built-in groundsheets and mosquito netting on windows and doors, thus allowing you to close them fully to keep you safe. We provide sleeping bags, air mattresses of 5 cm thick and cushions to give you a perfect night's sleep, camp chairs, tables, a kitchenette, good quality cutlery and crockery for the meals, and good camp lighting.

REMEMBER TO BRING THE FOLLOWING

Photographic equipment, batteries and films, binoculars, anti-malaria tablets (especially when travelling to Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Swaziland, and locally in the Kruger National Park) and insect repellent, cool casual clothing, walking shoes, a swimming costume, warm clothing (in winter), a jersey (summer nights can be cool), a hat, sunscreen, and an anorak.

Teurlings Ecotourism reserves the right with or without previous notice to change tour operations, tariffs, and conditions. Due to the nature of camping, touring, driving and the general third world conditions on our safaris/tours, Teurlings Ecotourism, its employees, guides and affiliates, do not accept responsibility for any client or dependant thereof in respect of any loss, injury, illness, damage, accident, fatality, delay or inconvenience experienced from time of departure to time of return, or subsequent to date of return, such loss, injury, etc. arising out of any such safari/tour organised by Teurlings Ecotourism. Should Teurlings Ecotourism cancel a safari/tour due to weather conditions or other reasons, it shall either refund full payment or offer a substitute safari/tour. Should Teurlings Ecotourism have to curtail a safari/tour for any reason after the time of departure, Teurlings Ecotourism will not be liable for any refund whatsoever, although everything will be done to complete a safari/tour or to utilise an alternative arrangement or venue. Should a client decide to curtail a safari/tour for any reason whatsoever, Teurlings Ecotourism will not be liable for any refund whatsoever. It will be assumed at booking that you have read, understand and accept this disclaimer.
