Mineral Depletion of the Soil

The published statistics of an Earth summit held in 1992 report a dramatic decrease in the earth's farmed land mineral content.
In the last 100 years it is estimated that Europe has experienced approximately 72% mineral depletion from soil in farmed areas. Compare this with:
  • Australia that has 55%,
  • Africa 74%,
  • Asia 76%,
  • North America 85%,
  • South America 76%
These figures tell us that  mineral depletion is a major concern throughout the world. If we do not start now to make the changes needed, we shall continue to reap the low levels of health and vitality that is now the birth 'mark' of each succeeding generation coming into the world.
As mineral depletion continues, we do not derive the nutrients that we require for building a body sutable for maintaining wholeness, or health.
This leads to succeeding generations manifesting 'new' diseases and putting strain on the world's already depleted health resources.
If "we are what we eat " is true, even in a small measure, we must start to monitor very carefully what we eat and where we get it from - this means taking care of the land and ensuring that we eat foods high in natural mineral content - minerals derived from the soil naturally and not 'put there' by farmers wishing to 'bulk up' on harvest.
This is a major part of our 'virtual farm' community - raising the finances required (and the voluntary extra labour) to till the soil and allow it to optimise its yield naturally - so that each of us gets the minerals and vitamins that we need.
Past and present farming methods were specifically designed to increase yield and amount of harvest, no one was concerned with the mineral content that turned the harvest into 'food' - and that was our biggest mistake.
An army marches on its stomach, only if the minerals and vitamins it requires are present. If the workers are undernourished, then defeat in the day's labour will soon follow...
As humanity has 'colonised' and 'civilised' the world, it has basically 'raped' land surface after land surface without due concern for the effects their efforts at 'getting rich' were having on the very land that gives life.
Thankfully, this is now changing and more farmers accross the world are taking the plunge and turning their back on the old and working to ensure that we lessen the effects of past mistakes and do not repeat them in the future.
The first signs that soil is depleted of life giving essential minerals and vitamins shows on the people living off a particular area - when their health suffers, it is time to move on - however, - these days, there is no 'unclaimed' piece of land - no where to go...
...and this is a blessing, because it means that we have to accept responsibility for our position and work to change it - together - food is everyone's concern, not just the farmer's...
