Sarah Milner's Letters Letter 3, Feb 18th 1911 - from Sarah L.L. Milner(1) to Fanny Eliza Scott(2) I do not know of any solicitor holding papers of our Leman money etc. I could tell you who I think has some of the Leman papers but shall not reveal in this letter - a distant relation of my Grannie Scotts. Reggie should come over but not alone as there are those who would kill the fatherless boy and his brother to serve their own ends. I saw a death in a local paper of a relation on my Grannies side whose father (if it is the same family) lived in a lovely house all his own in Norfolk. A very old family. William(21) when alive went with me to view the house grounds etc. etc. when we were out on Norfolk Broads and another time when William was out fishing. Father said I ought to have called on him but I did not like to introduce myself. I found one by the same name (unless forged) died at Erdington a week or so back - I cannot and will not say anything by letter as there were false people and claimants in the Jennings Estate, a rotten syndicate, and through their treachery and untruths my dear cousin, uncle and brother lost their lives. Reggie and Donald must come themselves and not put one word in writing, of course Reggie can send and employ my solicitor to have a copy of our chart. I know who has it besides my brother Abies widow but cannot name it on paper. Our Leman Crest and Coat of Arms is a Pelican feeding its young over a scroll and with three dolphins & a vc(?) underneath. Our Sussex family of Scotts is a Griffon over a scroll and three catherine wheels vc(?) and I have the motto. There are lots of Scotts in these parts but are not such a good family as ours and are not the true Sussex Scott. I have reason to believe someone copied our family chart and took away names and put others in. I know this…. The Jennings estate belonged to my grandfather Scott and his family by first wife come in there, male heirs of a male. The Lemans come the same and my brother Abie told me in confidence your son Reggie stood as the next lawful heir as my brother Harry was my fathers eldest son and Reggie, Harry's eldest son. Us girls do not count neither do our children as it is male heirs for ever. I shall never put on paper to go to post what I know so unless Reggie, Donald and their solicitors come it is better to give it up. I think my brother had not the papers at least he said not. Those who have them ought to produce them and so in helping Reggie would help themselves. You know after Reggie and Reggie's children my brother Abie is the next son who has two boys and they succeed should anything happen to your sons and grandsons and I think my sister-in law's family would have liked Reggie and Donald not to have married and had boys as then Abie's boys would come in- but Abie told me- Father told me - Uncle Robert Scott told me when alive "Harry's boys came in first" my brother Harry's boys. My Granny Scott when alive took my three brothers who lived Harry (your husband) Willie(22) and Abie and brought them up. She did not take us girls - only my brothers to her home and educated them until her death, so it proves to you it was sons sons. I have many cousins living who can assist Reggie but I will not give their names here only they must personally see Reggie.
