The search for a German family history starts with a family Ahnenpass, an official document required by the German Reich after World War I.  These have become invaluable to modern families in providing the first clues to their origins.

For this researcher the trail led to Lomnitz im Riesengebirge (Kreis Hirschberg) as the town of our ancestors and it soon became apparent that the history of one family can only be identified after studying all the many Reimanns who lived in Lomnitz. This unearthed a wealth of information on Reimann families which will hopefully be useful to others embarking on this exciting journey.
