Kitaab Al Iman The
aim of this book is: (a)
To acquaint the student with the uniqueness of the Islamic concept of
Almighty Allah (God) and how it affects man’s relationship with Allah
(God), with his fellow man and with the creation in which he lives. (b)
To introduce the student to the meanings of the final book of revelation,
the Qur’an, and its relevance to daily life. (c)
To familiarize the student with his fundamental belief structure, which
include believe in Almighty Allah, and His Angels, and His Books and
His Messengers, and in the Last Day, and the Qadar (divine
pre-ordainment), good and evil consequences thereof.. (d)
To develop in the student a realization that Islam is built on firm,
clear, logical principles and that it is not merely a collection of
cultural practices handed down from earlier generations. (e) To identify and build an Islamic character in the student through the study of Islamic ethics which is, no doubt, an essential component of any Islamic Education curriculum. This field of study is to be found in the prophetic traditions and the life of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw). This
book has been intended as an introduction only to the basic fundamentals
of the articles of faith in Islam (Iman)
in an ongoing series of "Understanding Islam and Muslims"
and it is incumbent on the student to further his / her study on this and
all other subjects on Islam. Numerous
Quranic verses and Ahaadith to substantiate the various perspectives and
rites on Islam are quoted without the Arabic text, and the lessons are
setout very simply, with the various Quranic verses, Ahaadith, and other
rites transliterated and translated. We have as far as possible avoided
unnecessary technicalities and steered clear from all the dispensable and
lengthy details. M.N. Salie.
