The International Hotel School opened its doors
at the famous Carlton Hotel in Johannesburg in January 1994.
Always focused on producing the calibre of graduates that would be
eagerly accepted by industry, the School grew steadily. In
January 1998 the School moved to its current premises in Illovo and
formed new partnerships with the best hotels in the area to provide the
critical practical exposure.
In 1999, the school
opened a satellite campus adjacent to and in conjunction with the Royal
Hotel in Durban. Following the formula developed in the
Carlton days, the school is able to offer a residential option for out
of town students. In July 2001, the much awaited Cape Town
Campus opens, offering a mid year intake option that fits better with
Cape tourism strong seasonality.
From its inception, the

1950’s to meet the needs of American Hospitality industry during its
rapid growth era. “The Educational Institute serving the
needs of such as the Hilton, Holiday Inn and Marriot grew as they grew
and became the world wide benchmark. Operating in over 120
countries, the Educational Institute and its 12 course Hospitality
Management Diploma is offered as a whole or in part in hundreds of hotel
schools, colleges and universities.
The International Hotel School, as local
licensees, have access to a wide range of books, programmes, videos and
web based learning material which is constantly updated.
The International Hotel School seeks to quality
assure its programmes through memberships of a number of bodies,
educational and professional, who have an interest in promoting high
standards within the industry.
