About the ladies in my life
Registered Name : CH Stahlberg Moonovation of LeopardsLair NSD NRD
Call name : Jane
Born : 18 July 1992
You better believe it. She is a lady all over. Extremely loyal, extremely predictable and my stalwart in times of trouble. She excels in retrieving and pointing in the field. Some reluctance when it comes to the likes of dummies, she goes about the task with a casual thoroughness which has an air of watching a true lady at work. She will not break any speed records, but she certainly will not miss a thing! She is getting on in her years now and from all the previous hunting years, has started loosing her hearing. When hunting, she ranges far and is difficult to get back by call or whistle, only by visual commands.
She is considered as my foundation bitch only producing 1 litter and then she contracted pyometra (open) and she ended up getting spayed. From this litter I kept one puppy bitch (see below).
Hip dysplasia grade 0.0, Novice Shooting Dog (NSD) and Novice Retriever Dog (NRD) qualified. In addition, she passed her Natural Ability test (1st round) as defined by the Hunt, Point and Retrieve Field Trial Club (predominantly German Shorthaired Pointers).
Registered Name : CH LeopardsLair Wild Amour NSD
Call name : Stephanie
Born : 1st December 1995
She is dynamic and exudes confidence, definitely no lady. For comparative purposes, like a teenager whom believes she knows it all, will not sit still for a minute and as long as things are done her way, she is content. Extremely energetic and will run miles before getting tired i.e. stamina which is rather admiral considering the heat experienced in the field here.
By no means shy of field work. Her ground scenting is exceptionally good in tracking a fast moving bird such as a Guineafowl that has a tendency to run rather than fly. Not shy of icy water in winter, has retrieved two Egyptian (a double) geese in the Orange river with a 1m high sheer side wall. Has pointed Francolin in patches of grass which I thought was impossible, yet out they came. I have learnt not to question her nose.
Hip dysplasia grade 0.0, Novice Shooting Dog (NSD) qualified. In addition, she passed her Natural Ability test (1st round). She is also not shy in the show ring.
