In February 1939 Alex Henshaw flew
from London to Cape Town in a
time of 39 hours and 23 minutes.
This
was the fastest time for any aircraft from
Britain to South Africa and reduced the ex-
isting record by 39 hours and 3 minutes.
After a stopover of only 24 hours, he
flew back to London in a time of 39
hours and 36 minutes. This reduced
the record for the return trip by 66 hours
and 42 minutes.
