Steve Broekmann, after doing a Bachelor's degree
majoring in English and Psychology, began his
apprenticeship at Bell Dewar & Hall in Johannesburg
in 1968 and completed a part-time LLB at the University
of the Witwatersrand in 1972. He has a special interest
in Competition Law particularly as it applies to
anti-trust in the Health Care field; and in the
protection and marketing of incorporeal rights such as
computer software licensing. Steve, after doing a
Bachelor's degree majoring in English and Psychology,
completed a part-time LLB at the University of the
Witwatersrand in 1972. Steve is an examiner for the purposes of the Law Society Admission examination, occasionally does radio programmes on legal topics and divides his spare time among his duties as chairman of the local Ratepayer's Association, the tennis club and exercising his (limited) musical talents in the Cape Welsh Choir and the Cape Town Gilbert & Sullivan Society. |
Garfield Krige joined the firm in 1991. He and Steve Broekmann had been friends since 1979 when they met while both working as in-house legal counsel for Shell Oil Company. Garfield graduated with a BComm LLB degree from the University of Cape Town 1968. Apart from a couple of years that Garfield spent in the wilderness as an insurance claims adjustor, both Steve and Garfield have been in the legal field, either in Shell or in private practice for a total of nearly sixty years. |

| In February 1997, Trudie Broekmann, a cousin of Steve, joined as a candidate attorney. A Stellenbosch graduate, she has become a valuable member of the team and after Janine's departure will probably take on much of the responsibility for litigation. | ![]() |
