Core Activities
CBOR –
TRAINING WORKSHOPS
The Constitution & Bill of Rights
Education Project conducts training on an annual basis at
National, Provincial and Community levels.
National Training
The CBOR Project conducts a 7- day training
of trainers workshop in June each year.
The content of the training includes
substantive information on the Constitution & Bill of
Rights, topical legislation, facilitation skills and practical
training in the materials of the project.
The participants to this workshop are
provincial representatives of the National Community based
paralegal association and Lawyers for Human Rights.
Provincial Training
Training of paralegals takes place in each of
the 9 provinces of South Africa.
The workshop includes training in
facilitation skills and the project materials.
Training is conducted by the trainers trained
at national level and the workshop is conducted over a 4-day
period.
The aim of these workshops is to ensure:
- that participants understand and
are able to apply the SA Constitution and Bill of Rights to
their daily practice as community advice givers
and
- that participants are equiped as
facilitators to conduct community workshops within their own
communities.
Community Programme
Each facilitator conducts a series of 8
workshops per year.
There are 80 workshops conducted in each
province annually.
These workshops are aimed at focus groups
comprised of community members.
The workshops cover different aspects of the
SA Constitution & Bill of Rights.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Impact
assessment
There is ongoing support for facilitators and
trainers of the CBOR Project in the different provinces
together with general monitoring and evaluation of
implementation at various levels.
A plan has been put in place for assessing
the impact of this project at community level. This process
will be conducted over a three year period and will cover all
provinces.
Gender
The CBOR Project strives
to ensure a gender balance in participants to all its training
programmes and applies a gender sensitive approach both in
training and in the materials produced.
