I am arranging a tour of Egypt in conjunction with the Egyptian Youth Hostels Association Camping and Travel Department

The departure date being the 16th of October 1999

This tour is of a 15 day duration and the following is relevant:-

The participant cost is $ 600 US Dollars. At an exchange rate of R6.50   =  R3900 and includes the following.

  1. Transportation from and to Cairo Airport
  2. Sightseeing in Cairo, Giza Luxor and Aswan
  3. Cairo – accommodation in triple rooms supplied with private bathrooms in youth hostel
  4. Luxor – accommodation in air-conditioned rooms with TV, refrigerator and private bathrooms in 3 star hotel.
  5. Aswan – accommodation in double or triple rooms supplied with private bathrooms in 2 star hotel
  6. Breakfast is provided from day of arrival until day of departure
  7. All transport to and from sightseeing spots

Airfare on Egyptian airways is + - R2350 which includes airport tax

You have to join the World Youth Hostel Association the cost is about R80

DAY 1:   Arrival at Cairo International Airport. Accomodation at Cairo Youth Hostel

DAY 2:    Information meeting. Visit to the Egyptian Museum and Citadel

DAY 3:    Visit to Memphis, Sakkara and the Pyramids of Giza. Departure by train for Luxor. (22h00)

DAY 4:    Transfer to hotel (3 Star). Visit Karnak and Luxor Temples and free time.

DAY 5:    Crossing The NIle to the Western Bank to see The Valley of the Kings,El-bahari and Madient Habou

DAY 6:    Departure by train for Aswan (05h00). Transfer to hotel (2 Star). Visit to the High Dam, Aswan Dam, Philac Temples and                   the Unfinished Obelisk

DAY 7:   Crossing The Nile to the Western bank to see the Aghakhan Tomb and Saint Simon Monastery. Free time. Depart by                   train back to Cairo  20h45

DAY 8:   Visit to old quarter of Cairo to see Babylon Fort, the ancient churches and Sultan and Refaie Mosques. Al-azhar Quarter                  and Khan-El Khalili Bazaars

DAY 9:  Departure at 07h30 by bus to St. Catherine via desert road. Possibility of seeing the convoy of ships in Suez Canal.                  Climbing Mosses mountain and seeing the sunrise from the top. Transport by camel ride an option

DAY 10:  Down to the Monastery to see Transfiguration Church, The Burning bush and it's chapel, Mosses Well, The Icon Gallery                    and The Charmel House

DAY 11:  Sightseeing in Sharm El-sheikh City and free time on the beach

DAY 12:  Free time on the beach

DAY 13:  Back to Cairo

DAY 14:  Free day for private tours and shopping. Farewell meeting

DAY 15:  Depart for home
