Australia 
The
Australian Shooting Association is the umbrella body for nearly all of the
shooting sports in Australia and administers the various disciplines through its
Affiliate National organisations. A
foundation member of I.M.S.S.U., the A.S.A. maintains its interest in metallic
silhouette shooting through two of its affiliate national organisations
Both
of these organisations are also active in various other disciplines and maintain
several international affiliations in their own right.
Two silhouette delegates are elected to the Australian Shooting Association by each of the affiliates concerned, and these two delegates, one for pistol and one for rifle, administer I.M.S.S.U. in Australia.
There
are approximately 1,500 rifle silhouette shooters in Australia and around 250
pistol silhouette shooters. Club,
Zone, State and National Championships are held on an annual basis and central
records are kept by each of the two organisations involved in the discipline.
Whilst they are entirely separate organisations, pistol and rifle
shooters are kept up to date and informed by their A.S.A. delegates through the
structure of National, State and local club captains.
Continental
championships are conducted every second year and whilst these Championships are
limited in their scope, they do provide a forum for the two branches of
silhouette shooting to compete in international competition close to home.
The Oceania Shooting Championships rotate between Australia and New
Zealand and in addition, both rifle and pistol shooters often compete in the
N.R.A. National Championships.
Teams
to the World Championships are selected by the two National organisations
concerned and ratified by the Australian Shooting Association.
