Phuket - Similan Islands liveaboard trip

Donald Duck rock in the Similans

Amongst all the diving destinations that I have been fortunate enough to travel to,
Thailand is the one that will remain embedded in my heart forever. The warmth
and friendliness of not only the Thai people but of the expatriates as well is
infectious.

Phuket's main beach resorts are unfortunately tainted by the effects of brash
mass tourism but these can easily be avoided if one stays in the quieter areas
like Kata beach, or simply by embarking on a liveaboard trip to the Similan
Islands.
One dive shop that stands out from the others is Phuket Scuba Club which is
conveniently located 100m from Kata beach.
The South African owners of this dive centre have created the perfect blend of
professional dive shop and social post-dive environment.

If one really wants to get away from it all and concentrate exclusively
on diving then a liveaboard trip is the answer.
We travelled to the Similans aboard the Jonathan Cruiser
It is a Swedish owned vessel offering the more budget conscious traveller an
excellent combination of good service and cosmopolitan atmosphere.
