We have two main runways for the prevailing winds in the area, one is 122 x 8 and the other is 135 x 8 meters surfaced with tar. The area surrounding the runways is grassed and kept short. The runways are grassed 30 - 40 meters beyond each threshold. The pit area is covered against the hot Zululand sun. A covered family and a braai area are available for pilots and their families, as well as visitors to relax in.

Current news: The annual air show was held on 27 July 2003 and was a success. We had many visitors who showed interest in the club and its activities. With the windy season on us once again, it's the guys that fly early in the morning that are getting the good flying in. Flying starts at around 7:30 Saturdays. Warning: Do not fly alone. It is sad that a sign of the times does affect us all, 2 members were recently held up while flying--please exercise caution and ensure you are with a reasonable size group and keep an eye open for possible problems. Old news: Any contributions to our web page will be welcome, please email me. (Don't complain about a lack of content after reading this….

Please note that all solo pilots flying from our field must be SAMAA members. Your SAMAA membership number should be displayed somewhere on your flight box and be giving to the chairman for record. All persons flying from the Richards Bay Radio Flyers field have to have SAMAA membership! Students are covered by the pilot assisting them, however, it is expected that they will be in the process of applying for SAMAA membership. Please guys, this is in your interest as SAMAA is our spokesperson to government etc, as well as giving you 3-rd party cover. You will receive a newsletter about every 2 months with interesting articles and tips as to what is happening around the country. Subscriptions cost R160.00 for full membership per year--juniors and pensioners get discount. Click here for SAMAA's home page.
Safety hint: All PCM radios should have fail-safe settings enabled correctly, throttle must be set to idle or shut down.
