FRIDAY 11 APRIL
Check-in at
Cape Town International Airport (Domestic departures), or at other centres, for the flight to Johannesburg .  Transfer to International Departures at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo Airport for the EgyptAir flight to Cairo. Dinner will be served on the flight.  

SATURDAY 12 APRIL
On arrival at Cairo
International Airport , you will be met by our agent and transferred to the 5-star Pyramids Park Interncontinental Hotel, or similar, on a bed & breakfast basis.  This hotel is situated close to the pyramids.  After time to relax and refresh, After time to relax and refresh, you will enjoy a half day tour visiting the world-renowned Egyptian Museum with the astonishing gold treasures of the boy-king Tutankhamun and an antiquities collection spanning 5,000 years. Later you visit the medieval bazaar of Khan el Khalili.  Overnight Cairo .

 SUNDAY 13 APRIL
Today you visit the Giza Pyramids to see the Great Pyramid
, Sphinx and Valley Temple and later drive southwards to Memphis to see the colossus of Ramesses II and also visit the vast funerary complex of 3rd Dynasty King Djoser at Saqqara with the Step Pyramid, the first ever pyramid and visit the recently opened Imhotep Museum.  Lunch is included at a local restaurant.  Overnight Cairo .

MONDAY 14 APRIL
You check-out from your hotel and will be transferred to Cairo
Domestic Airport for the flight to Luxor.  On arrival at Luxor Airport, you will be met by our agent and transferred to the 5-star riverside Sonesta St. George Hotel, or similar, on a bed & breakfast basis.  There will be a visit to the excellent Luxor Museum.  Overnight Luxor .

TUESDAY 15 APRIL
After breakfast, you will be taken on a half day tour on the
West Bank to visit the great temple of Ramesses III at Medinet Habu and the memorial temple of Ramesses the Great – the Ramesseum, as well as the Tombs of the Nobles.  The rest of the day is at leisure.  Overnight Luxor .

WEDNESDAY 16 APRIL
After breakfast, you will depart for a full day tour by road, driving along the
Nile Valley through towns and villages, to visit the massive temple at Dendera, dedicated to Hathor the goddess of love, music & intoxication (many people’s favourite goddess!).  The tour also includes Seti I’s grand temple at Abydos with its 7 sanctuaries and the most magnificent limestone reliefs to be seen in Egypt.  A lunch box will be provided.  Overnight Luxor .

THURSDAY 17 APRIL
You will be transferred to your 5-star Nile Cruiser M/S Nile Style, or similar, for your 4 night cruise between
Luxor & Aswan, on a full board basis, starting with lunch.  During the afternoon there will be a tour of Karnak Temple, the largest religious complex in the world with its forest of pillars, sacred lake, obelisks and massive reliefs.  Following this, you will visit the highly impressive Luxor Temple.  Overnight Luxor.

FRIDAY 18 APRIL
This morning you cross the Nile by road for a second visit to the West Bank to visit the tombs of the pharaohs in the famous Valley of the Kings.  There will be an opportunity for an optional visit to the tomb of Tutankhamun.  There is also a visit to the great temple of the female pharaoh Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahri and the Colossi of Memnon.  In the afternoon, your cruiser sails south to Esna, where you pass through the lock and continue sailing to Edfu.

SATURDAY 19 APRIL
After breakfast, there is a visit to the huge Temple of Horus at Edfu by horse carriage from the ship - this is the most complete temple of the ancient world.  Your cruiser continues sailing southwards to Kom Ombo, where you visit the temple with its dual dedication to the crocodile god Sobek and a falcon-headed god Ra-Haroeris.  Your cruiser sails to Aswan.

SUNDAY 20 APRIL
Following breakfast, you travel by air-conditioned coach to see the Aswan High Dam, which forms the 500km long Lake Nasser and visit the ancient granite quarry with its 1,000 ton Unfinished Obelisk.  Afterwards, you take a motor-boat to the elegant island temple of Philae dedicated to the supreme maternal goddess Isis.  After lunch, sailing on a traditional felucca on the Nile, you can view Kitchener’s and Elephantine Islands and the Aga Khan’s Mausoleum from the river.  Overnight in Aswan.

MONDAY 21 APRIL
Following breakfast, you disembark from the cruiser and
drive south on the ancient 40-day caravan route through the desert to Abu Simbel, where you will check-in to the 4-star Seti Abu Simbel Hotel on a full board basis, starting with lunch.  The afternoon is at leisure.  In the evening, you will visit the superb Sound & Light Show at the Sun Temple of Ramesses the Great and return to the hotel for dinner.  Overnight Abu Simbel.

TUESDAY 22 APRIL
After breakfast, you visit the two Temples of Abu Simbel when the sun is in a favourable position for photographs.  After time to see the temples, you will be transferred by road to Aswan, where you will stay overnight on a bed & breakfast basis at the 5 star Pyramisa Isis Island Hotel. There is the opportunity to visit the Aswan bazaar which runs the length of the town and, for those interested, there will be time for an optional visit to the Aswan Nubian Museum.

WEDNESDAY 23 APRIL
After an early breakfast you will fly from
Aswan to Cairo where you will be met by our agent and travel by road to Alexandria, the “Pearl of the Mediterranean ”. Following lunch at a local restaurant there will be a guided tour of the Catacombs, Roman Amphitheatre, and revived great library - the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.  Overnight Alexandria at the 5 star Sheraton Montazah Hotel or similar.

THURSDAY 24 APRIL
After breakfast there will be a guided tour of the
Graeco-Roman Museum (or National Museum ) and Fort Qait Bey   overlooking the eastern harbour.  You will return to the hotel to relax or do some last minute shopping and in the evening there will be a transfer from Alexandria toCairo International Airport where you will be assisted through  the airport formalities for your return flight to Johannesburg .

FRIDAY 25 APRIL
You depart
Cairo on your EgyptAir flight to Johannesburg .  On arrival you transfer to the Domestic Departures for your flight to Cape Town or other centres.

DAY 1
Arrive Cairo International Airport early morning, where you will be met by our Cairo agent and transferred to the 4-star Oasis Hotel (bed & breakfast).  After time to relax and refresh you have a half day tour visiting the Pyramids, Sphinx and Valley Temple at Giza .  Overnight Cairo .  
DAY 2

Today you have a half day tour of the world-renowned Egyptian Museum with the astonishing gold treasures of the boy-king Tutankhamun and an antiquities collection spanning 5,000 years.  Later you will be transferred to Cairo railway station for the overnight sleeper train to Aswan, dinner will be served on the train.  
DAY 3
After breakfast on the train you arrive in Aswan where you will be met and transferred to your 5-star superior Nile cruiser M/S Queen of Hanza.  During the cruise you will enjoy full board starting with lunch today.  In the afternoon, sailing on a traditional felucca on the Nile , you view Kitchener’s and Elephantine Islands and the Aga Khan Mausoleum from the river.  
DAY 4
Today there will be a visit to the famous Aswan High Dam which forms the 500 km. long Lake Nasser and there will be a visit to the ancient granite quarry with its 1,000 ton Unfinished Obelisk.  You cross the water by motor-boat to visit the elegant island Temple of Philae

After breakfast you will be transported by horse carriage through the dusty town of Edfu where you will visit the huge Temple of Horus - this is the most complete temple of the ancient world.  After the visit the cruise continues to Esna where you pass through the lock and continue to Luxor with its massive concentration of ancient sites.  
DAY 6
This morning you cross the Nile to the West Bank by road transport to visit the tombs of the pharaohs in the Valley of the Kings (there will be an opportunity for an optional visit to the tomb of Tutankhamun).  Also you visit the great temple of the female pharaoh Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahri and the Colossi of Memnon.  In the afternoon you visit the incredible Karnak temple complex, the largest religious complex in the world, with its forest of pillars, sacred lake and carved reliefs.  Later you will go to the impressive Luxor Temple.  There will be an evening transfer to Luxor Airport for the flight to Cairo which connects with the return flight to South Africa .  
DAY 7
Arrive Johannesburg .
