Shark Diving
31/08/04
The most
terrifying, amazing, wonderful, horrifying experience we ever had. It has been
the best day of our trip. You just have to do it! – Annika & Emma
29/08/04
Amazing. A lot
of money but worth every cent. I have never been so scared & will probably
never enter the sea again, but to see these amazing creatures so close is
something I will never forget. One of the sharks bit hold of the cage and that
shocked us! Aaaahhh! – Rob & Nia
We did a two
day dice with what sharks in Gansbaai. Over the two days we got to see around
ten sharks. The fist time you see a shark it’s an amazing experience. The white
shark has a bad name around the world, this trip gives you the chance to see
what it is really like, it is a magnificent creature, which demands respect
rather than fear, it is not the man-eater it is made out to be. This trips
spreads knowledge about this creature so more people can learn what it is
really like. It is an endangered animal and deserved to be protected and not
hunted. We would recommend this trip to everyone, as it will change the way you
view sharks. – Amit, Esty and Harry.

I had an
absolutely awesome time. Speak nicely to the guys here and you also could receive a hefty R300
discount! It is enough to buy you the video of your day and prove to friends
and family you really did it! We saw 7 different sharks of various sizes, big,
very big. At least to an English girl anyway. The food sucked slightly, but
whale watching took my mind off what I was eating. Do it, you’ll regret it if
not. – Clare.
22/11/04
Hi all. Just a
word of warning. We booked with these guys on the basis that we would be on a
new boat (bigger that any other). Perfect, we thought, but a bigger boat means
bigger seas (5-6 m swell). Even the crew were a little nauseous. They didn’t
take dive gear and had no intention of putting the cage in the water due to
rough seas. We saw 3 sharks from the boat, which was good, but we paid to cage
dive. They didn’t tell us, were rude and arrogant when we indicated we
wanted to cage dive, and wouldn’t offer a second day, due to the fact that we
had already seen sharks!!! BE AWARE!!
What can I
say? It was amazing. We got to see 5 great whites. The biggest being about 4m,
though when you’re in the cage, it looks about 20m+. I learned a lot about the
sharks. We shouldn’t fear them, we should RESPECT them, they are a great
species. I would recommend this trip to everyone. It’s tops! – Stuey.
Thank you for
the township tour, it was a great experience and much nicer than the one I did
in Jo’burg.- Stine.
Thanks so much
for a great tour, Thembile and Patrick. You’re a real good team. We learnt a
lot about the townships. Keep educating your guests, please! – Matt and
Claudia.

Township Tour
3/9/04
Very good
tour with an approachable & knowledgeable guide. Even if you have been to
the townships, do this tour. You gain a better understanding of thief history
& function by the guide’s presence. You also avoid all the hawkers &
stalls, which is a big plus. – Will & Sam

Great
guide, who showed us real township life, which had more positive aspects than I
expected.
20/12/04
We were
picked up by Godfrey. He first told us about the history of District Six and
the townships. Then he took us on a very impressive tour through the townships
and district 6. We stopped at many places and really got to see what it is to
be in a townships without feeling like visiting a zoo. We are very glad we did
this tour and recommend it to everyone who’s interested in the background of
many South Africans. Godfrey tried to teach us the Xhosa word for beer, but it
is too difficult, umqomboti– Dennis & Janneke.
Thembile’s Township Tour
18/3/05
Thankyou Thembile for your guided trip with Patrick’s help to the townships.
We enjoyed missing with the people very much. IF any of you come to New
Zealand, we have a bed for you in our house. – Carol & Murray.

The tour with Patrick and Thembile was without a doubt the most valuable
experience I have had during my 4 week stay in Cape Town. It was great to meet
the locals who welcomed us into their houses, to have a drink with them in one
of the bars in the township and to speak with them in their own language. I
will never forget it and recommend it to everyone visiting the Green Elephant.
– Kirsty.
A day well spent – hospitable and knowledgeable guides and a great way to
experience another side of Cape Town. An eye opener to the real African way of
life. – Tanya
A fantastic experience. It was very interesting to see from the
perspective of people who live in such a different way. Had a great day! Thank
you. – Maggie.

Thanks Thembile and Patrick for the township tour. If was wonderful and
we had a good time with you guys – Reginalda Paula de Oliveira Pedro.
Heey Thembile. Thanks for convincing me to go on the township tour. I saw
things you really need to see to have a good picture of South Africa. Also
thanks to you Patrick. Thank you guys. – Niels

Fabulous tour. Thank you Patrick and Thembile, thank you for all the info
and the spirit to share and grow and want us to understand some more of South
Africa. Brilliant tour. Don’t think about it, just go. – Kali.

Started well, coz we were picked up tight from the Green Elephant & I
met a friendly guide (Franscois) and a little bus full of like-minded people…
Tour consisted of 4 wineries, a guided explanation at the first and then 4
“tastings” (1/2 glasses) 2 each pit-stop. Thought is was very good, because
time in the bus wasn’t too long – at most 20 minutes between wineries; 40
minutes home at the end of the day. We actually weren’t that impressed with the
wines. Maybe not ideal to taste them one straight after the other, but we did
get champagne and brandy too. Lunch was really good and even could have a swim
too. All in all, a good day out. Saw some brilliant views of the area
surrounding Cape Town. Would recommend drinking between stops id you want it to
be drunken…
12/02/05
It was an entertaining trip, but nothing special. Go there with some
friends and you’ll definitely have fun if you like drinking wine…- Barbel.
The organised a really nice day for us, with lots of different things to
see and experience, like riding a bike etc. The only negative thing was that
they gave us little time at some of the sights, especially at Cape Point, but
it is a trip that we can recommend.
1/10/04
Awesome day – cycling, walking with great guides. – Rob.
Lovely day, good guide (Louise), amazing landscapes. You must not miss
it! – Inge.

Met at the hostel by Mark. It was obvious immediately that he was a
well-informed, amiable and confident sort of chap. We were introduced to each
other and when the pick-up hostels participants were loaded into the van. The trip
was spectacular, the views terrific and the knowledge expressed by Mark, second
to none. The weather helped a lot and I suppose a picnic by the beach would be
somewhat damped by bad weather. All in all a superb trip, if for nothing else
than the excellent pasta laid on by Mark! Great Value! – Tom.
28/12/04
The trip was very good. The coastline is spectacular. The guide was very
good, making the trip very educational. Great! – Mike.
28/12/04
Very special trip to the Cape of Good Hope! I liked it a lot! Sorry we
didn’t have more time to spend on the beach! – Mango.
13/02/05
Great trip with a very well informed guide. We saw spectacular landscape,
did some exercise (the riding), had a great picnic, saw the cute little
penguins at Boulders Beach – all in all a fantastic experience you shouldn’t
miss. – Barbel.
To all interested in taking the Cape Tour. Do it! We had the
recommendation form Rupert and it was worth every Rand spent. The guide was
helpful and informative, the sights were spectacular and one day was just
perfect. Something everyone visiting Cape Town should see and do. – Tom, Frank,
Tom.
13-24/9/04
They were all fantastic- I highly recommend them all! But before you do
any of these, do the Topless Bus Tour and get all the discount vouchers and
then do the tours- much cheaper that way, but definitely do them all- as many
as you can. Thanks Jackie for recommending them! – Rachel.
13-24/9/04
These tours were brilliant and very informative. Again, I would highly
recommend them all. Cape Town is a fantastic place and well worth a longer
visit when the weather is better!!! -
Emma Bushell
Great tour for a good price. We’ve seen sooo much and enjoyed every bit. Sleeping
in a tent for 3 weeks was very comfortable. Some times too little time at a
place, especially the desert, but otherwise you would need two months! Saw a
lot of game, even lion and leopard very close. (Moremi game drive - a high light.) Go if you are looking for amazing nature, a lot of animals and a
lot of fun (sky diving, white water rafting, bungi jumping). Might be a bit
disappointing if you look for culture and contact with local people. In that
case, definitely visit the village at Njepi – the only culture you’ll get. Fun
guides, excellent food. – Steffi.
19-20/02/05
It was a really great weekend although I was the only one in the group
staying overnight. But I met nice people there. At R1990 this trip is
definitely not a bargain, but you get a real luxury weekend in a nice 4 star
lodge with great food and of course lots of wildlife. I was on two game drives
and had the time to see lions, cheetahs, giraffes, rhino, wildebeest,
springbok, buffalo and some more wildlife. If you want a relaxing escape from
Cape Town staying in a remote farm, this trip is definitely worth considering.

Fynbos Experience, Advela Tours
30/3/05
As a botanist, I wanted to learn more about the plants of this unique
bioregion. This tour sounded great, but expensive (R525), but I went anyway. We
went to Cape Point, a native nursery and a nature reserve wetland near Cape
Town. Most of it was great except the botanist was on holiday, so I learned
most in the nursery and at the reserve with the botanist, I would recommend the
tour, otherwise it’s better to just find plant experts yourself or learn some
at Kirstenbosch and stop at the indigenous nursery along Cape of Good Hope. –
Toby.
Good trip. Sound fella running the show. – Mari.
