Liesel Trautman is a renowned Wildlife and Heritage artist residing in Cape Town, South Africa.

After completing a three-year commercial art course and working in this field for a further three years, she turned her hand to professional crafting, and has been trading at the Waterfront craft market in Cape Town's Victoria and Alfred waterfront for the last ten years.

Liesel uses only the finest unfertilised Ostrich eggs for her work. The process begins with her original watercolour or gouache, which she then applies to the egg. By careful colour mixing and hand-painting the egg, detail and added interest is achieved. After close scrutiny, the egg is signed, sprayed to a high gloss and baked to create a durable lustre.
