The intoxicating Wine Route

Experience the magic and beauty of sprawling vineyards nestled in lush valleys, explore the Cape's renowned winelands and their range of award winning wines and enjoy the rustic and cordial atmosphere in some of Stellenbosch's best wine cellars.

We depart from Cape Town around 8.30 in the morning. Our first stop is in Somerset West, where we visit the picturesque Vergelegen Estate and taste its famous wines. We continue to Stellenbosch, the second oldest and one of the prettiest and best conserved towns of the country. We stroll through its charming streets, visit "Oom Samie se Winkel" (uncle Sam's shop), the oldest shop around. The interesting Village-Museum takes us through the history of the town.
On the way to Franschhoek we visit Boschendal, which is probably the most beautiful of all the Cape wineries: Tucked in below some startling mountains, the Cape Dutch homestead, winery buildings and vineyards are almost too beautiful to be real! After some more winetastings, we continue our journey to Franschhoek, tucked into arguably the most beautiful valley in the Cape!
We visit the interesting museum commemorating the French Huguenots who settled in the region. Their knowledge of wine-making was of outmost importance to the industry, but their influence was also felt in all other aspects of society. We visit  the Huguenot Memorial Monument and, after another winetasting, head back to Cape Town.
