LONDON, Oct 9 (Reuter) - Winger Ieuan Evans, Wales's most capped player, was left out of the 36-man squad announced on Thursday for next month's internationals against Tonga and New Zealand.
Evans, who recently moved from Llanelli to Bath, has a groin injury, coach Kevin Bowring said.
``Based on form and fitness, this squad is the strongest available,'' Bowring said. ``Ieuan Evans is missing on fitness, rather than retirement, grounds.
``At the moment he is keen to continue his international career, but needs to recover from injury and get a run of games with Bath under his belt before he and we decide on his future.''
Pontypridd full-back Kevin Morgan, who has played in Wales' last four internationals, is dropped to the 17-man development squad. His position could be taken by clubmate Neil Jenkins who impressed at fullback in the British Lions tour of South Africa.
``The fact that Neil Jenkins appears among the outside-halves does not preclude him from being considered for the full-back role,'' Bowring said.
