CAMPS

Troop Camp 2001
The idea of bringing a patrol down to take part in the 3rd Pinelands troop camp started at one of our camps in East London when I mentioned that I would be going to Troop Camp in December. I then spoke to Thomas who readily agreed to the idea of bringing a patrol down to Cape Town. Much organisation and planning went into it and we eventually left East London on the 8th of December and drove through to Knysna for the night. We completed the journey Friday the first day of camp just after lunch on the 9th. Our patrol was at first a little ill at ease with not knowing anyone there besides their own patrol but after a day or two they settled down.

We didn't do extremely well in the points wise, but it was our guy's first camp of this nature, it was also the longest camp our scouts have been on, and I am sure they learnt a lot from it and will take away many good experiences and ideas. Lawrie Haw (P.L)

On-be-half of the 7 members of the 1st Cambridge. I would like to thank all those who have contributed their time to put up a fun and challenging camp. We made friends with boys and girls from 3rd Pinelands. The only activity I didn't enjoy was the challenges, but we will never forget all the fun and time we spent there and I would like to thank Lawrie Haw and his father for organising transport.
