Willern Court : 157-159 Victorian Embankment
Architects : William B Barbourn
1931
This building was designed in what Art Deco purists would call 'Style Moderne'. Unlike other examples included here it is devoid of any external decoration but has a very a strong tie to the styling of trains, planes and ships of the period. The original fenestration included curved glass in the corner windows. Of note is the entrance canopy and a very fine foyer in wood panelling strongly influenced by Art Deco and chrome sconces.
