COVE Traction Charger

The µTrak traction charger is a derivative of our well proven microprocessor controlled industrial chargers manufactured for critical areas in refineries, power stations, airports, etc. The µTrak range therefore contains the most advanced technology available and is easily upgraded to a full communicating network node charger via RS232 or multidrop RS485. PC network/system software is available for single/multi charger sites. The µTrak traction charger when upgraded can be fully remote controlled and interrogated and may be interfaced to industry standard SCADA systems.

SCR Power Conversion Technology

The unit incorporates digitally controlled six pulse thyristor technology to provide the exact charging output to the battery at all times regardless of mains variations and other factors.

Input Mains Protection

An input circuit breaker is a standard fitment. The input is monitored for phase failure, phase rotation, and any excessive under/overvoltage. The unit incorporates surge and spike suppression.

MMI (Man Machine Interface)

The standard indication and instrumentation is comprehensive, simple and informative. All functions are indicated by 5 LED's. A single scroll key accesses the multi-screen backlit LCD. Charge functions and sequences are augmented by a coded audible sounder.

Extended Features

The µTrak Traction Charger continually checks for connection and status of any connected battery. Low achievement of the battery is indicated, displayed on the LCD and logged for later download. Continuous non-achievement timers allow the microcontroller to re-assess and adjust as necessary. The charger auto-detects plate sulphation and attempts to safely rejuvenate the battery. The unit is rated at 100% duty cycle in high ambient temperatures and incorporates failsafe electronic fan control with auto-thermal shutdown and recovery.

Physical

The aesthetically pleasing enclosure is manufactured using CNC and powder coating processes being suitable for floor and wallmount installation. Input and output cables are included. The µTrak is manufactured to strict QA procedures and each unit is certificated after full function and load testing. A comprehensive installation and maintenance manual is included.
