Most
pool owners desire to maintain a clear, odourless and sparkling
swimming pool with the least amount of work involved and at
minimum expense. If that is you then AQUALUX® should definitely
be on your next shopping list.
This
is not just another pool chemical, it is an advanced formulation
for modern pool care which has stood the test of time.
AQUALUX®
is
extremely effective against algae, it does not deteriorate in
sunlight, has a long lasting effect, is odourless and creates an
enjoyable pool environment through clear sparkling water, is
non-toxic and non-allergic, causes no eye irritation, and above
all cuts chlorine consumption by more than half.
The
subject of the use of chlorine is a sensitive one. More and more
environmentalists speak out against it and while chlorine is still
used in most water purification processes it is rather overrated
as far as swimming pool sanitation is concerned. Besides the
potential harmful chemical effects on the environment and human
health and especially for the pool user the unpleasantness of eye
irritation and smell, the costs of chlorine in recent years also
have become exorbitant.
Its
main purpose is to control bacteria and to a lesser extent algae.
What many pool owners do not seem to know, however, that correctly
balanced water in itself creates an unfavourable environment for
bacteria to grow in. The ideal pH level is 7.2. If the level is
too low one can raise it with Soda Ash and lower it with Sodium
Bisulphate or Pool Acid.
Once the water is
balanced it is simple to keep the pH level constant. All that is
needed now is the regular use of AQUALUX®. This will stop the
growth of green and black algae and no other chemical will be
required with the exception of approximately half or even less the
usual dose of chlorine.
Pools which have
turned green because of maintenance neglect or due to hot spells
and much thunderstorm activity can have clear water revival in
less than 24 hours with a prescribed dose of AQUALUX®.
Pool maintenance
and cleaning are one of the least attractive aspects of swimming
pool ownership. Neglect can be costly and so called “quick fix
cures” often do not produce the desired results.
AQUALUX® does not
lose its effectiveness with sunlight and therefore only needs to
be applied once a month. Considering that one bottle
(330g/11.55oz) is sufficient for pools with up to 80 000 litres
(21 000 US gallons) capacity, the cost per day is absolutely
minimal; it's just a few cents.
Also important to
know is that the original AQUALUX® with its internationally
famous logo on the white bottle with blue top, is a registered and
approved product (Registration No. L4847 Act 36/1947).
AQUALUX® comes in
fine granular form and can be poured straight into the weir basket
(filtration inlet) while the filtration pump is running.
The net mass
per bottle is 330g/11.55 oz. One shipping carton contains 24
bottles (8.4 kg/18.5 lb. gross). Please request current FOB and
CIF prices from amos@iafrica.com.
Finally a few tips
for effective pool care:
Dust, leaves and
debris blown in by the wind quickly spoil the look of a pool,
while the suntan oils, make-up, sweat from the constant use of
swimmers escaping the heat, also mar the purity of the water.
- Firstly, clean
all the leaves and debris out of the leaf traps both in the
weir and the sludge trap, because if water cannot flow to the
filter, it cannot be filtered.
- Do a good
backwash. To get the filter reasonably clean one must backwash
for at least 3 minutes followed by a 1 minute rinse. If
backwash was not done for a couple of weeks, repeat this
process twice.
- The next step
is to carry out the necessary water tests and correct pH if
necessary. It is important to remember that correctly balanced
water creates an unfavourable environment for bacteria to grow
in.
- Next, water
level. The water level of the pool should be checked
regularly. Dirt and leaves will not skim off into the weir if
the level is not correct. If the water level sinks more
rapidly than experienced with normal evaporation the pool
floor and walls should be checked for cracks.
- If an automatic
pool cleaner is used it should not run continuously. It is
just a water vacuum cleaner and therefore should only be used
when the floor and the walls of the pool are dirty. The top
25cm (approx. 10 inches) of water is the area where bacteria
flourishes and this water will not be filtered if the cleaner
is continuously in use.
- Leaves and
debris, not skimmed automatically because the pool cleaner is
in constant use, become waterlogged and drop to the floor of
the pool. Most pool cleaners have a pulverising action and
when the debris is sucked up it becomes a sludge which dirties
the filter sand much more quickly.
- It is essential
to run the filter for at least eight hours every day. With an
automatic pool cleaner this should be increased to twelve
hours because of the restricted water flow through the pool
cleaner and hoses.
You see, it is
quite simple and in-expensive to maintain an enjoyable pool
environment with clear and sparkling water all year round. AQUALUX® obviously plays a major role in it. Try
AQUALUX® now
and we can assure you that you will always come back for more,
like all our customers do, both local and international.
