Flying over Dasklip Pass at Porterville

This web site has traditionally been to promote my Paragliding bushiness in Wilderness, times have changed and my passion changed with it. I still fly most weekends and as often as possible during the week. when I race past my Paragliding friends my heart aches, a special thanks to all the Paragliding Pilots from around the world that flew with me I will never forget the special times we shared together and the knowledge that you passed on to me.
The web site focuses on Paragliding at Wilderness (please support my accommodation) & Saiplane flying at Worcester, South Africa's premium mountain flying region.

Wilderness lies 15 km east of George, on the Cape Garden Route between the Kaaimans River and the Goukamma Nature Reserve. It is renowned for its vast stretches of beach, tranquility and the absence of windswept wetlands, wild and stormy seas. Wilderness overlooks not only the sea, but also the placid lagoon, the Serpentine, which meanders between the Touws River, Island Lake, Langvlei and Rondevlei. Island Lake is a favorite water sport venue. Wilderness has numerous Paragliding sites for all levels of Pilots. Fun dune flying to more complex thermic XC flying.

Worcester was founded in 1822. The town today is mainly the service center for the surrounding wine and fruit growing areas in the Breede River Valley. Worcester lies at the N1 freeway connecting Cape Town and Johannesburg, a route via Robertson and Swellendam to George and wilderness.. To the wine lover, Worcester offers a big Wine Tasting Center, where one can savour the excellent Breede River wines.
The Cape Gliding Club owns a whole range of one or two-seaters, towing aircraft and a tarred runway. Flying activities are usually limited to the weekends only, if the conditions are good there will always be somebody flying. Visitors are welcome and can, under the supervision of an instructor, fly themselves. Weather conditions in the Breede River Valley are excellent most of the year, in summer there is excellent XC flying in the mountains, distances of 1000 km per day are possible. During the colder winter months the strong westerly winds bring good wave conditions, height gains of 20000' is not uncommon.
