Welcome
to my humble, little, shamelessly self-promoting website.
The original Robert de
Villiers site was created in 1999 when I began to write feature-length
screenplays. In those early days of online screenwriting, there were only
about 25 writers listed under "Aspiring Screenwriters" on the
Yahoo! directory; today there are hundreds.
The Early
Days of this Site
My first venture into screenwriting was a script called Y2K - The
Millennium Bug. I can thank Chris O'Donnell for ruining my chances of a
sale, because of his similar themed project which never got off the
ground. That script did help me to find an agent, Anna Piazza or Chadwick
& Gros Literary Agency. Anna and I had a fantastic learning
relationship, and she nurtured my writing through two screenplays, one of
which, Savanna, is featured on this site. After three years Anna and I
parted ways and we are still good friends to this day.
What are
You doing Now?
I am currently in my final year of University, studying for a BSc in
Computer Science and Psychology. My next step is to get into a production
company and start learning the ropes of the movie-making industry.
Ultimately, there is a Director's chair with my name on it and a few
critically-acclaimed films in the can ... but all good things come in
time.
You
create Software for Writers?
Through my company Scene-2-Screen
Software, I have created two applications for Windows users. Alias
is character names generator with the largest database of first name and
surnames of any similar product. Write
That Down! was created for anyone working in the entertainment or
writing industries. It is an all-inclusive submission tracker, projects
database, contacts database, income/expenses database ... the list goes
on. WTD! is now for sale at The
Writers Super Center and (for the time-being) includes Alias as a
free added extra.
I have started a FAQ
(Frequently Asked Questions) section of this site to deal with the many
questions I am asked pertaining to screenwriting. Also, take a detour over
to my Screenwriting Articles, which have been posted on The
Screenwriters Forum
Thanks for being the visitor to my site.
